Pilgrimage April 2016

I apologise to those of you who assumed that the photo I posted on Monday’s blog was actually taken as the walking pilgrims set off from Durham. It was in fact a photo from the MWiB website archive, because at that point there were no photos of the current pilgrimage.

Today I have taken this photo from Jill Baker’s tweet, as the group passes Dunstanburgh Castle en route to Seahouses. These were their actual weather conditions today, described on Twitter with the words ‘sunshine and splendour’. Still not quite the deep blue skies of the archive photo, but better than yesterday, I think!

When I was young people used to say “don’t believe everything you read in the papers”, but I grew up trusting the phrase “the camera never lies”.  Times have changed, technology has moved on, and things are different now.  This really is an authentic photo, as far as I can tell!
