Tuesday 25 April 2017 – welcome home!

All being well, Sandra and Chris should have landed at Heathrow just after 7am today, Tuesday 25 April. Here is the last instalment of their update, sent to me on Monday morning, as they waited for their onward flight.

“Our homeward journey started out well. Leaving the John Wesley Centre at 3am we arrived in plenty of time at El Alto airport. Flight to Miami via Santa Cruz left on time. At Santa Cruz we all had to leave the plane and go through passport and hand luggage checks before reboarding the same plane. All went well until we were approaching Miami, when the pilot announced that we were diverting to Orlando because of bad weather and a queue of planes trying to land! In the end we only went as far as Palm Beach to refuel, then back to Miami. We missed our connecting flight and after a lot of confusion in Miami they booked us on the next available flight, which was 24 hours later, so hopefully we will land at Heathrow at 06.40 on Tuesday.

American Airlines would not pay for an overnight stay because the delay was caused by the weather! However, a very sympathetic AA employee booked us into the Ramada Hotel at a reduced rate for ‘distressed passengers’! We must have looked pretty exhausted! We enjoyed a good night’s rest and after an ‘All American’ breakfast we feel re-energised and ready for the final leg of our journey.

We have had a wonderful trip, despite the various challenges along the way. We have been aware of being held in prayer, so many very sincere thanks to all who have been praying with us and for us. We look forward to sharing all that we have learned on our return.

With love and blessings
Sandra and Chris xx”

Welcome home! Chris has promised to explain the photo further – something to do with leadership training, a ring and cocktail sticks!
