Passions and Palms:
Heavy Lifting and Resilient Hope
Creative explorations with Revd Dr Val Ogden
The Hayes, Swanwick, Friday 5th – Sunday 7th April 2019
Born in Manchester, our keynote speaker Val has been committed to communicating God’s good news in Christ, in diverse ways, since answering a call to preach at the age of 19. She worked in education and training, and as a presenter on commercial radio, before training for ministry. Ordained in the United Church of Zambia, Val has served as a Mission Partner in Zambia and Fiji, and currently ministers in the Boston Methodist Circuit in Lincolnshire. Val loves Word, Sacrament and Pastoral Care, and is fervently ecumenical—‘For God so loved the world’.
As well as Val’s keynote input, there will be a variety or workshops and seminars on offer, along with worship and fellowship, and time to share in conversation, to relax, or to find quiet space. There will be a Market Place of books, crafts, MWiB merchandise, and other items for sale. The ‘Butterfly Bring and Buy Stall’ will be running again, with proceeds going to Tabita House, Bolivia – so don’t forget to bring your butterfly-themed items, as well as your purse!
A crèche and children’s programme will be provided as required.
The cost of the weekend is £170, which includes en-suite accommodation, all meals and refreshments, and all conference expenses. See booking form for payment details; full payment is payable by 1st February 2019.
Each District is offered one free place, which we hope will be given to either a younger woman, or someone who has not been to an MWiB residential before. Contact your District Officers if you would like to enquire about this or to nominate someone for the free place.
A small number of bursaries of £150 are available for women who would otherwise not be able to attend for financial reasons. For more information on bursaries download the application form below, or telephone 0300 030 1517 for a confidential conversation.
