Faith, Work and Hospitality at Cornwall District Day

Faith, Work and Hospitality at Cornwall District Day
November 13, 2018 Judith Simms

On 18th September 2018, Mrs Jill Nute was inducted as President of MWiB for the Cornwall District, and Revd Cathy Arscott as Vice President, at Tintagel Methodist Church, Cornwall. The Chair of the District Revd Steve Wild, and the Minister of the Church Revd Linda Barriball, led the Service of Induction, which included Holy Communion.

Mr Rob Holmes, Cornwall and Devon’s representative for Mary’s Meals,  our President’s chosen charity, gave an informative talk and showed a DVD on the work of Mary’s Meals in supplying over one million meals each day to school children in parts of Africa, India, Ecuador, Haiti, Thailand, Myanmar, Romania, Syria and Lebanon.

After a break for lunch, the Revd Steve Wild gave an address on Lydia, a dealer in purple fabric, which seemed so appropriate in the attractive Tintagel Methodist Church which has interior walls and organ pipes painted in shades of purple! Revd Steve highlighted the faith, work and hospitality of women in the Bible.

Hospitality was generous at Tintagel Methodist Church, and the warm welcome was appreciated. The District Day ended with a Cream Tea.
