Methodist Women in Britain (MWiB) and the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women have an exciting opportunity for a young woman passionate about knowing Christ and making Christ known.
The Helen Kim Memorial Scholarship is a leadership development program from the World Federation which aims to inspire young women to envision a world where there is hope for the hopeless, security for the insecure, sufficient for the impoverished, freedom for the oppressed, and a voice for the voiceless.
As part of the program you will travel to Auckland, New Zealand in August 2026 to participate in leadership training with other Helen Kim Scholars, before attending the World Federation’s 15th World Assembly on the theme “Arise and Shine for the Glory of God is Upon You”. In Auckland you will:
~ build relationships with women of all generations from around the world
~ develop your leadership skills alongside other women leaders
~ participate in community building amongst young women from around the world
~ work with other Helen Kim Scholars to make a presentation to the Assembly
Once you return from the Assembly you will be involved in the exciting work of the World Federation, including raising awareness of the work done by the World Federation and encouraging other young women to become involved. You will also be involved in the work of Methodist Women in Britain, as part of the executive team, helping to shape the work it does developing faith, building fellowship and advocating for women around the world.
As Helen Kim Memorial Scholar, accommodation and travel costs for the Auckland Assembly will be paid by the World Federation, and all reasonable expenses will be paid for the five year term of the scholarship including attending the annual MWiB conference & World Federation Day.
To be considered for this role you must be:
~ aged between 18 and 30 years of age at the time of the Auckland Assembly (August 2026)
~ a committed member of a Methodist, United, or Uniting Church
~ involved in women’s issues and/or church work
Applications are in two stages. Methodist Women in Britain receive the initial applications, then nominate their selected candidates for selection by the World Executive.
Application Process Stage 1 – MWiB / British Unit selection process:
~ Deadline for completed application forms: Monday 29th September 2025
~ Applicants will be shortlisted, and interviews will be held: in early October 2025
~ Up to two applicants will be selected at interview to proceed to Stage 2 of the process.
Application Process Stage 2 – World Federation selection process:
~ Further information will be requested, for completion and return by 31st October 2025.
~ The final selection of the Helen Kim Scholar will be made by the World Officers, and the
successful candidate will be notified before 31st December 2025.
