{"id":19310,"date":"2026-04-18T00:01:44","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T23:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mwib.org.uk\/?p=19310"},"modified":"2026-04-01T16:32:46","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T15:32:46","slug":"prayer-for-the-week-18th-april-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mwib.org.uk\/index.php\/2026\/04\/18\/prayer-for-the-week-18th-april-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Prayer for the Week &#8211; 18th April 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Prayer for the Week \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 18 April<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Read Luke 24:13-35 (The Road to Emmaus)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mwib.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DC4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-19311\" src=\"https:\/\/mwib.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DC4-215x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mwib.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DC4-215x300.png 215w, https:\/\/mwib.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DC4.png 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the most spiritual experiences I have ever had was reading this passage from Luke\u2019s Gospel back in 2018 whilst on a visit to the Holy Land led by Bishop John Pritchard.\u00a0 Towards the end of our \u2018slow retreat\u2019, we held a short service in a church near to the believed site of Emmaus, approximately seven miles from Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p>The Spirit is more palpable on some occasions than others for reasons known only to God, but I sensed the Spirit during our worship that day and particularly as I read this account from Luke\u2019s Gospel aloud.<\/p>\n<p>On reading the road to Emmaus story, which only appears in Luke, we need to remember that Christ is walking alongside us every day, mostly unseen and unrecognised.
