Week 3 \u2013 Together in Fellowship – Acts 2 : vs 46-47 They worshipped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord\u2019s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity, <\/em>\u00a0<\/sup><\/em>all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This weekend will see a very busy service in my own church and one that links so closely again to the passage from Acts 2 that we have been reflecting on this month and particularly verses 46-47. I honestly don\u2019t think anymore could actually be packed into one morning service and as a church family we are getting the opportunity to achieve all that these verses offer \u2013 and more! Let me explain further: as a church we have decided to use the Methodist Way of Life study materials to help us grow and develop in fellowship. Rather than introduce this as part of a bible group or a weekly study programme we are utilising each topic as an integrated part of Sunday worship, one session per month, led predominantly by our own minister and our Circuit Youth and Family Development Worker, but also involving Local Preachers and Worship Leaders. This week our minister will introduce the scheme and prepare our congregation for what is planned for the next 12 months, however that is only a tiny part of the morning service. As it is still early in the Methodist year we will also be having our Covenant service \u2013 our reminder to all present of those powerful words as we promise \u2018I am no longer my own, but yours. Put me to what You will<\/em>\u2026..\u2019 \u00a0\u00a0and of course, because it is our Covenant we are also having Communion. All those elements make a busy service but we are also including an adult Baptism and 5 people coming into the membership of our church \u2013 God is so good. And while it might seem that with so much involved in the service some parts might feel rushed or watered down, during group planning conversations it is clear how well all these elements fit together, how it feels like the perfect way to start a new year and this is the chance for us ALL to learn and grow together. \u00a0Despite all the challenges of the world, in spite of all the sadness and suffering of so many we are still reminded of the grace of an adoring Lord who reminds us continually of the comfort and joy that we can always receive within the fellowship of our church family \u2018each day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved\u2019. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Loving Lord, we praise you for your goodness and mercy towards each one of us \u2013 your fellowship of believers. May we be a shining light of your love and grace, so that others may see your goodness in us. Let us claim and keep the promise of your unmeasurable love, now and always. AMEN<\/em><\/p>\n
