w/c 14th September 2024
This is the month of Synod and as we discuss business matters of our churches and our districts may we never forget that you God are our purpose for discussions and we need to remember to focus on you at the center of everything. Some Circuits will be submitting their profiles for new Ministers for 2025 and Ministers will be submitting their papers for Churches to choose them for next year. We know that a lot of time and effort and thought will have gone into preparing these and we pray that the right people will find the right matches to their individual needs for their jobs and their circuits. People do not like Change………we are creatures of comfort but sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zones and do something different.
When we read bible passages, so many are true for today and could have been written just recently but most were written hundreds of years ago…….such as Ephesians 5 v 15 – 17 So be careful how you live, don’t live like ignorant people, but like wise people. Make good use of every opportunity you have, because these are evil days. Don’t be fools then but try to find out what the Lord wants you to do. Vv 19 & 20 Speak to one another with the words of psalms, hymns and sacred songs; sing hymns and psalms to the Lord with praise in your hearts. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Always give thanks for everything to God the Father.
And Isaiah 43 v 19 – Watch for the new thing I am going to do. It is happening already, you can see it right now!
Sometimes we have to accept new things and new ways of doing things. Sometimes our eyes are shut to what is happening around us and we do not see the bigger picture. We must not look back but keep going forward with one another. Jesus is our Stability, the centre of our lives and we must stay focused on him while moving forward to new things.
Prayer: Lord may we, your church across the earth, always see what you are doing. Give us a renewed vision for today. May we not be so wedded to old ways that we miss the new. Fill us and fill us again, that we may pour out new wine. In Jesus name. AMEN.
