Saturday 19th July
It was so simple to organise – one evening mid-June in Newcastle District, 16 women walked a flat two-mile circular route and were joined later by 10 more women for a pre-ordered meal and easy quiz in a room on our own at a restaurant – no other agenda, but to meet up, chat, mingle and have fun.
Dear Heaven Father, thank you for Christian friends with whom to walk and enjoy your beautiful creation. As we reflect on your glory, majesty and splendour seen in nature, we dip in to our personal pools of gratitude – drawing on those gems of your kindness to us in the past that we have dropped, like treasures, in to our ‘wells’ – to lift our spirits and encourage us when the going seems to get tough. Thank you that your love and forgiveness pursue us all the days of our life.
Walkers at Eland Hall Farm pond, Ponteland
Precious Lord Jesus, we worship and adore you, knowing that your example to us of how to live included downtime, time to relax and have fun together after the business of the day, time to eat and drink with friends. Thank you for our mid-week gatherings to which we can invite our ‘yet-to-know-Jesus’ friends, so that they realise Christians are OK, and God is OK, and so start on their own discipleship journey of transformation which leads to knowing your joy in their hearts too.
Diners at The Badger, Ponteland
Empowering Holy Spirit, stir in our hearts – with that same excitement of exploring together and cracking cryptic quiz clues – the thirst to dive in to your Holy Scriptures to seek your revelation and your enlightenment for our lives. Thank you that you help us to see others as God sees them, with compassion and longing for them to come in to relationship with Jesus. Thank you that you enable and equip us to be more courageous and to speak up for Jesus.
We pray in the name of Jesus, who died for us, rose again, and is alive and with us today, Amen.
