Prayer for the Week – Saturday 29th August 2026

Prayer for the Week – Saturday 29th August 2026
August 29, 2026 Bronwen

Saturday 29th August

Leisure: 1 Kings 8 56-61

Solomon says: “Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses. May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our fathers; may he never leave us nor forsake us. May he turn our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways and to keep the commands, decrees and regulations he gave our fathers. And may these words if mine, which I have prayed before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God day and night, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel according to each day’s need, so that all peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God and that there is no other. But your hearts must be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time”.

Reflection: As we come to a time of relaxation, leisure and holidays which we are all entitled to, however busy our lives are, we should perhaps heed verse 3 of StF 620:- “Didst thou not make us one, that we might one remain, together travel on, and share our joy and pain, till all thy utmost goodness prove, and rise renewed in perfect love?”.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we come to you in our times of rest and revitalising our lives, may we receive your peace and abundance by acknowledging your presence with us every day. We have nothing to fear when we stay in your love and grace as your faithfulness is everlasting, even when we drift from you. May we enjoy the rest of your constant love for us. Amen
