The Woman with the Issue of Blood – Faith That Reaches Through Fear

Reflection
For twelve long years, the woman with the issue of blood lived between hope and heartbreak. She suffered quietly. She spent everything she had. She tried every remedy available and still she was not healed. Her condition did not only weaken her body; it isolated her life. Under the law, she was considered unclean. That meant no touch, no temple, no community, no normal relationships. She lived on the edges—watching life instead of living it.
Twelve years of waiting. Twelve years of disappointment. Twelve years of praying without answers but then Jesus passed by.
Still weak. Still bleeding. Still unseen by most, but not unseen by God. In that moment, a daring thought rose in her heart:
“If I only touch his garment, I shall be made well.” She did not ask for attention. She did not request permission. She did not wait for an invitation. She reached. She pushed through the crowd—through weakness, fear, pain, and shame. Every step was a risk. According to the law, she should not have touched anyone but desperation had given birth to faith.
When her trembling hand touched the hem of Jesus’ garment…Immediately, the bleeding stopped. Healing did not slowly arrive nor gradually unfold. It came at once. Jesus did not let her miracle remain hidden. He stopped. He turned. He asked, “Who touched Me?”
Not because he needed information but because she needed affirmation. The woman fell before Him, trembling in fear, and told him everything. Jesus did not rebuke her. He did not shame her. He did not expose her to humiliate her. He called her “Daughter.” Twelve years, she had been nameless. Now, she was named by the Saviour. Then he said, “Your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
Her healing was not just physical—it was personal. Not just medical—it was spiritual. Not just restoration of body but restoration of identity. She left the crowd no longer bleeding, no longer hidden, no longer bound by shame. She left whole. This woman teaches us that faith does not wait for perfect conditions—it moves in imperfect strength. She did not feel strong. She felt desperate. Yet her desperation became the doorway to her deliverance.
She teaches us:
- That faith can rise even when hope feels tired.
- That one step toward Jesus can change everything.
- That even hidden faith is visible to God.
You may feel like her today:
- Drained from years of waiting
- Tired from unanswered prayers
- Weakened by disappointment
- Tempted to believe nothing will change
Her story still speaks: All it takes is one touch. One moment of belief. One step of faith and Jesus still stops for faith. He still turns, heals, and restores. He still calls his daughters by name. Your condition does not define you. Your suffering does not silence Heaven. Your weakness does not repel God. If you reach, he responds.

Prayer
Jesus, I come to you tired and in need of your healing touch. I have waited, I have struggled, and I have grown weary but today I choose to reach for you again. Heal every place of hurt, restore every place of loss, and call me by name in your peace. I trust you for my miracle. In your holy name, Amen.
