Area Trustee Scotland and Shetland
Barbara is Area Trustee for Scotland & Shetland
I have been the Forum Rep for the Scotland District for almost six years and will become the Trustee for the Scotland and Shetland District under the reorganised system. I am looking forward to this new role, which will involve working with Ambassadors throughout the District to try and revive interest in MWiB.
I have been retired from primary school teaching for almost eight years. In that time, I have trained as a Local Preacher and have been persuaded to become part of the District Local Preaching Team. I have enjoyed working with that team to produce workshops to explore the new course for training Worship Leaders and Local Preachers.
I enjoyed studying to become a Local Preacher, so I am now studying part-time for a BA in Ministry and Mission (Third Age). This involves intensive weeks of lectures three or four times a year at Cliff College in Derbyshire. One of the highlights of my week is spending the afternoon at the local MHA retirement home. I started going as part of the practical work for my degree, but now I go because I enjoy the company of the residents!
Since retiring I have joined the local u3a, although the only group that I have time to attend is the Readers’ Group. and the local Twinning Association.
I live alone, apart from my cat, and enjoy reading, photography and travel.
