The sunrise was so very beautiful –
Deep oranges, brilliant yellow, a faint rosy pink;
I leaned out of the window to catch the colour.
At that moment the sun
Rose,
Overrode the colours
As the button clicked
And
In astonishment
I gazed at the caught white light.
Searching, Lord to share something
Special about that very first Easter Sunrise
I thought:
Easter Light absorbs all the colour,
The darkness,
The soreness,
Transforms it and reveals
Purity
Cleansing
Life
‘Alleluia’
We sing
‘Alleluia
Christ is Risen’ –
But the rising
Is more than a word,
More even than a hope
It is an acclamation
That You
Almighty God
Are above and beyond
Our imagination.
You take all that we are
When we release ourselves
Into your hands
And transform us!
‘Alleluia’ we sigh
With a breath of relief,
‘Alleluia!’ we whisper
In the dark night time of our fears.
You, Jesus, are with us.
Light of the world
You swallow colour and dark
And shine
Gloriously
Then
Hand all the colours back as you breathe
Your Spirit
into our world.
CHRIST IS RISEN
ALLELUIA
Thanks be to God
Amen
