A service written by Sandra Goodwin, focusing on issues of climate change and stewardship of God’s creation.
The service includes hymns, prayers, and a short reflection, as well as stories of real people and communities living with and working to curtail the effects of climate change around the world – stories from Brazil, Africa, Ethiopia, Fiji and the UK. The material, downloadable below, can be used by individuals or groups, and we hope you will find it informative and challenging.
The theme of climate change ties in with this year’s Methodist Prayer Handbook The Earth is the Lord’s (available to order from Methodist Publishing, £4.50 + p&p) and with the theme of the 2021 World Federation Day event: ‘Just Living: Being Faithful with God’s Resources’ (Saturday 23rd October 2021, at Chippenham Central Methodist Church – further details to be confirmed).
Originally written by Sandra Goodwin for the 2021 Easter Offering Service, the material was withdrawn when the 2020 service was postponed because of coronavirus, and instead Sandra graciously offered the service as an extra resource for MWiB, and we thank her for her generosity.
