World Federation President Alison Judd writes:
Greetings to you all this Holy Week.
The Call to Pray for April focuses on SDG 7 Clean energy for all, and I find myself also thinking about a different source of power, the power of the Cross of Christ made possible because of his willingness to give up power for our sake. (Philippians 2:6-8)
I think of the news from Myanmar and Hong Kong where oppressive power is denying ordinary people their basic human rights.
I think of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65 just concluded) that addressed the issues of gender based violence and unequal power structures.
I think of the power of the coronavirus and the power of the vaccine to protect those fortunate enough to have access to it.
We pray for our sisters in every situation of powerlessness as we give thanks for the message of Easter that in Christ alone there is hope.
‘For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.’ 1 Corinthians 1:18
It was through the power of God that the resurrection happened!
Be blessed and stay hopeful this Easter.
