For me one of the joys of my role as co -chair is the opportunity to meet with many interesting people in many different settings.

I attended Methodist Conference last month. It was my first visit and to be honest I was initially   well outside my comfort zone. When I told people I was going to conference I got very mixed reactions from “you will love it” to   “I would rather go to the dentist “ With three books of the agenda and constant email updates there was a lot to take in. Even finding my allocated seat in the vast hall seemed a bit of a mission but one or two people took me under their wing to point me in the right direction especially with the complexities of the voting system. Although to begin with it felt that I was running  flat out just to keep up I soon began to value the whole experience and felt I understood much more the importance of Conference to all levels of Church life. I was able  to speak to  conference to express our regret that this was the last time MWIB  would be represented at Conference following restructuring. I was able to meet and network with people between sessions as well as catching up with people I had met at Swanwick. I particularly enjoyed the fringe events wich I found inspirational. Our fringe event  Mary Bosenquet lecture with Revd Dr Paula Gooder was a particular highlight for me. Although conference was an intense learning curve I have to say it was a great experience which I came to enjoy. Not long after I was in Bexhill to meet Kathryn Anderson  Diocesan President of the Mothers Union to discuss how Methodist Women in Britain  and the Mothers Union could explore those areas that we had in common.

The fish and chips were great too,
