Prayer for the Week – 30th December 2023

Prayer for the Week – 30th December 2023
December 30, 2023 Bronwen

30th December

“When anyone is joined to Christ, he is a new being; the old has gone, the new has come”.

  2 Corinthians 5 v.17

Pause and take a deep breath. You have made it through Christmas and are about to embark on a New Year. The gifts have been given, the food all eaten and soon the decorations will be taken down and stored away for another year. For us all this is a time of new beginnings. What will you be looking forward to this New Year?

All through the Bible, Christ created new beginnings. Mary began the journey of motherhood, prisoners were set free, and the lame given new hope through His healing. He wiped away sins, sickness and offered fresh starts instead. Who among us could do with a new start too? Most of us could list a few highs and lows in the past year and wish we could change some things. But the good news is that Christ still delights in giving us new beginnings so we can move on from any mistakes we have made this year. So as the old passes away lets leave any baggage and move forward to a New Year of blessings.

We Pray –

Lord, because You came to us at Christmas, we can be made new. Be with us as we enter a New Year and fill us anew with Your blessings and grace and enable us to use the gifts You have given us for the benefit of others. Lord bless our friends and families in this coming year and sustain us with Your Love.

Amen.
