We  have a new  addition to the family, Gizmo  is 7 and has come to us as his forever home. He is delightful company who is always on the go exploring his new home, new walks and new doggie friends and is already settling into his new routine. Getting to know each other is like embarking on a wonderful journey.

One of the Lent courses running in my circuit is based on Holy Habits by Andrew Roberts. It encourages participants to join in an adventure of a lifelong journey of discipleship. Based on Acts 2, it explores 10 disciplines or activities to encompass a way of life that follows a life of faith. It  provides a useful framework that is flexible enough to adapt to the needs of different  ages and contexts.

Having Gizmo has highlighted a need for new disciplines and habits in family life. We will both benefit from a routine of daily walks and a pattern for mealtimes. Holy habits encourages us to look systematically how faith links in to all aspects of our life and faith to help us grow and mature on our journeys with Christ.

Although the framework is structured the approach is that of going on an adventure with lots of real life stories and guides for reflection . As Gizmo and I get to know each other and explore new places to walk we will do it in the spirit of adventure which feels like a good approach during Lent or any other time of the year.
