Lead us forward into freedom; from despair your world release,
that, redeemed from war and hatred, all may come and go in peace.
Show us how through care and goodness fear will die and hope increase.
Fear of War and hatred can have a detrimental effect on many people, who feel unable to go about their everyday lives. 1 Corinthians Chapter 2 vv 3-5 says: “I came to you in weakness and fear and with much trembling. My message and preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.” We need to grasp this message and remember to put our whole trust in God and the power of the Spirit.
Let us Pray: Lord Jesus, we acknowledge your greatness over all the evil of war and hatred that blights our lives. May we learn from your teaching that you care about each one of us and it upsets you when we are worried and live in fear. We need to know that our concerns are your concerns and if we hand them to you they will be dealt with in a loving way. The world needs your peace and we pray that the actions of people who are intent on causing unrest will know that they won’t succeed without your intervention and salvation can be theirs if they ask for forgiveness in a heartfelt manner. May those of us who suffer from disruption be comforted that you are by our side always. Amen
