I was pleased to be able to represent Methodist Women in Britain when I attended the memorial service for Elizabeth Dunn Wilson, a past president of Network.
The service was held in Emmanuel Church Eastbourne on Friday Jan 10th 2025.
In fact it was a double celebration as Elizabeth’s husband David had died during lockdown and it had not been possible to hold a memorial service for him at that time. So family and friends came together to commemorate their shared story through photos and memories and what an amazing story it was.
The stories took us through teaching, fostering and adoption to two spells of oversees mission in Panama and in Kenya. We saw pictures of Elizabeth being ordained in Kenya and delivering a petition to 10 Downing Street as Network President. Her passion for children and education shone through with pictures of Messy Church activities before Messy church had been invented. More stories than I have space for here and many stories that are housed in the many photo albums that have provided a record of the wonderful life enjoyed by both Elizabeth and her husband. The words of final hymn “ Father of Everlasting Grace” seemed to be a fitting reflection of two amazing lives of faith and service.
