I was delighted to be invited to take part in the South Worcestershire Circuit Easter Offering Service last Sunday.
Held at Droitwich Methodist Church, this was like coming home for me as this was where I spent my childhood and teenage years.
Led by Circuit Superintendent Rev Elizabeth Harris, the congregation gathered from around the circuit to share in the theme Education for All, Hope for All.
Ann Martin from Droitwich had made a special banner for the service with a butterfly to represent each church in the circuit.
Reflecting on the Gospel story of Martha and Mary we considered how opportunities to learn should be available to everyone, and how we all draw closer to Jesus in different ways.
I was able to share news about Methodist Women in Britain and encourage the circuit to seek opportunities to meet together as Methodist Women in a variety of ways, to share in fellowship, to consider issues of justice and to learn together.
After the service the congregation were encouraged to add words to the Scrabble table as they joined together to share in fellowship and refreshments.
For me it was good to meet up with people who had known me many years ago as a child, including my former Girl’s Brigade Captain – the time melted away as we chatted over tea and biscuits.
