Sometime ago I read a book called ‘Flight to Heaven by Capt. Dale Black. He had always wanted to learn to fly and on gaining his Pilots Licence he went on to train for his Commercial Pilots Licence.
In order to do this, he would fly with an Instructor and take it in turns to fly with 2/3 other pilots. Sadly. one day, one of the pilots misjudged a take-off and they crashed into a local memorial. Dale was the only survivor. After operations, physio, prayers love and support from his family and friends his dream eventually became a reality, becoming a commercial pilot. He would take sabbaticals and leave in order to take bibles and aid to wherever they were needed. He also spent some of his time giving inspirational talks. The following is quoted from the book and is the part that really spoke to me.
‘Some would say that I have lived the dream. I see it a little differently. I did not so much live my own dream as I lived the dream God had when he dreamed of me’
Can we say that?
Dear God,
In the beginning you had a dream, and you made that dream a reality. You created night and day, the sky, seas and land with all kinds of vegetation and creatures to roam the earth, fill the sea and skies. You then created us in your image and deemed it was very good.
We thank you that we are part of your dream. Made to live a life full and wonderful. With each new day enable and encourage us to face the challenges before us and to rejoice in all you have given us. Breathe your Holy Spirit on us equipping us to show your love, just as we are and where we are, with all we encounter on this journey of life. So that finally when we meet you face to face, we may hear you say, ‘And it was good.’ Amen
