Many apologies to my readers for the absence of my blog. A lot of water has passed under the bridge or to be more specific under the airplanes and boats since I last blogged. Furthermore, WiFi and email had become quite an issue while away.

In my last blog I mentioned that I was travelling down to Suva to stay with Mission Partner Rev Dr Val Ogden. On the Sunday afternoon I went along with Val to the village of Nanuku, an urban settlement in Suva not unlike the area of Benevides in Brazil where I worked as a volunteer a number of years ago.

Val has been ministering to the people of Nanuku for a number of years holding worship, accompanied by her guitar and recently baptising the baby pictured with his mother above.

We enjoyed a meal prepared for us and shared with the family of Shelley. Shelley is employed aa Domestic Supervisor at the Pacific Theological College and it was through Shelley that Val had first encountered the Nanuku settlement.

I was taught the art of stripping the white coconut from the inside of its shell by ‘Nannie’ while Val gave guitar lessons to Shelley’s son Araf, pictured above with Val and the family’s new stray puppy ‘Blackie’.

It was a fascinating and very blessed afternoon of sharing and learning.
