Unbound: a gospel that breaks barriers
Jesus talks about God’s Kingdom as a place of release from captivity. This stories in this year’s Easter Offering tell of different ways that this is coming true. People across the world might be trapped in many ways – by poverty, by violence, by the actions of others or by their own past. Sometimes the things that bind us are in deep in our own hearts. Through Bible study, worship, art and story, the Easter Offering resources help us to think about God’s Good News of freedom. There is inspiration in the stories of others and prayer for all those still struggling for liberation.
The Easter Offering service can be used ‘off the peg’ as a special service or as Sunday worship in the period between Easter and the summer. The materials could also easily be adapted for a group activity or Café Church. For over 100 years, the Easter Offering service has been a key fundraiser for the Methodist Church’s World Mission Fund – a response to the Easter celebration of the new life of the resurrection.
