This week 12 women have again undertaken the MWiB summer pilgrimage from Durham to Lindisfarne, led by Jill Baker. Photos and tweets have confirmed that they appear to have had good weather so far – this time last year conditions were far less favourable for walking!
One of the tweets this week alluded to John Bunyan’s famous hymn, To be a pilgrim:
Who would true valour see,
Let him come hither;
One here will constant be,
Come wind, come weather.
The sentiment of that hymn is somewhat daunting! I am so glad that the God I love and serve is more constant than I will ever be! One of my favourite modern hymns, by Brian Doerksen, has these words:
You are my rock in times of trouble.
You lift me up when I fall down.
All through the storm
Your love is the anchor.
My hope is in You alone.
