I have paid tribute to the sterling work done by Alison Judd, as the Area President of the Britain and Ireland area of the World Federation, in meetings before now, but not in the blog. Alison is one of 5 exec officers who, with the Forum, lead MWiB, yet she also has a big job outside of that – leading us all in the aspect of MWiB aiming to “connect women in Britain with women worldwide.” (She is in the photo here, with the rest of the exec officers, on the right.) Often single handedly, Alison has created positive working relationships with the World Church Relationships team, Methodists for World Mission, and Methodist Women in Ireland. She has travelled to World Executive meetings in Switzerland and Australia during her term of office, which began and will end, in 2016, at World Assemblies in South Africa and the USA.
She strives to help us all more readily to see the bigger picture, and has recently produced 2 excellent documents on establishing real partnerships, see her page on the website here. These can be of use outside MWiB, to any group considering setting up a partnership, especially with a church or charity overseas, in a developing country. Do take a look, or let others know about them, if you/they are considering taking such a step.
There is still time to give a nudge to anyone you know who may be considering applying for the role of Alison’s succcessor, serving from 2016-21 – the closing date is Monday 12 January, there’s still time to email. All the information is on the website here. Linda
