Jesus, our Lord,
It was a cold and frosty morning
and the sun was hidden
in the swirling mist.
I caught glimpses of the sun
beginning to burn the mist and frost away.
I heard the sound of woodpeckers
hammering in the trees,
of honking geese
flying overhead,
and then I heard a cock crow.
You said ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness.’
Jesus, I know you are there,
but in the mists of my mind
I often only find darkness,
forgetting you,
and denying you are there.
Oh Jesus, come into the darkness,
sweep it away
with your brilliant light.
Help me to feel the warmth of your love
wrapped around me
chasing the darkness away,
so that I can walk in the light of your love
all my days.
Amen Jackie Smith
