It was good to meet up with Anne again today, especially after following her intrepid travels around Germany over much of the last 3 weeks. She seems, like me on my travels, to have kept well, retained her stamina and been wonderfully and generously welcomed into so many different places and programmes of the Methodist Church in Germany. We talked, over coffee and lunch in Highbury, of her travels and I’m sure we only scratched the surface of all that she has to share with us in future. Here she is with friends at the Kirchentag (literally Church Day) in Stuttgart last weekend, when 100,000 people gather for several days of worship and fellowship.
After lunch we moved on to the cafe in Highbury Park, where we finalised the plans for the service at which Anne will be commissioned in just 2 weeks time, and began planning the morning prayers MWiB has been invited to lead on the Tuesday morning of Conference. THEN we moved onto the main reason we had planned to get together today – to discuss handover arrangements when we swap roles on or after 26 June. The threatened hail and thunder storms did not materialise , so our third venue of the day was rose garden at the rear ofthe Highbury Centre itself, where we now stay so often since we discovered it in November. It has a calm and peaceful atmosphere – very welcome when our minds are ofen whirling with the business we have to discuss.
Blessings, Linda
