I was unable to load the blog this morning, and promised Ruth and Deborah that I would still use this photo, taken as they were setting up for the concert with Paul Field and Garth Hewitt at Methodist Central Hall Westminster this afternoon. I will use a photo of the concert itself tomorrow.
This date has been etched on my mind for months now, and it felt rather surreal that at last the long-awaited day had arrived. The hall was full, the music and lyrics challenging, and we were glad to welcome Meena and Priya, our visitors from the Church of North India, to the event.
I travelled home to Devon by coach with friends from my own and a neighbouring circuit, which made a change from solitary train journeys back from the capital to the West Country. Tomorrow I shall enjoy a day of rest, before setting off on Monday for Greece with eleven other women from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. There we shall visit women in refugee camps and listen to their stories. Please pray that we will know how to share the stories sensitively on our return, in an attempt to make some sort of difference in this enormous humanitarian crisis.
