Supper

Last night it was good to share with many friends from MWiB and the World Church in our joint fringe event. We thanked Linda, Alison and Liz for their wonderful contributions to the MWiB executive, and welcomed Sandra as Vice President, Carolyn as Area Officer for WFMUCW (World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women) and Jude, in her absence, as our new Communications Officer. We thanked one Rachel (Collins) for her work as the Helen Kim Memorial Scholar and welcomed another Rachel (Allison) into the role. We also thanked Sarah Braisdell as her appointment as our Heritage and Archives Researcher ends officially. I have a feeling that we will still see quite a bit of the outgoing team at various times as they continue to help and support the work of the movement.

Conference business today covered some sensitive topics. This afternoon we considered the refugee crisis and our response. Tomorrow there are other important issues on the agenda. Please pray for wisdom as we go into another long session. The morning will begin with communion together.

Tonight I share Alison’s photo of six of us together for supper at the end of a long day of Conference business. We have been pleased to meet up with lots of friends over the week, and this evening we had supper with Jackie Bellfield, who was our keynote speaker at the Swanwick weekend last year.
