Today here at the MWI weekend we began with open prayer before breakfast. Carolyn and I were privileged to share a table with Maureen and her daughter, Ruth. Ruth has almost no hearing or sight and communicated with her mother in British Sign Language, spelling out words on to her hand. It was a joy to converse with them as we ate together.
The day has included worship, Bible study and a range of workshops – we were able to choose between découpage, the story of Susanna Wesley or self-defence for women! Carolyn is now better able to look after herself in a dark alley and I have decorated an attractive wooden heart plaque!
The weekend has gone by far too quickly and by tomorrow afternoon we will be flying back to Exeter via Manchester. We are determined to continue to foster links and friendships with each other across the Irish Sea, as MWI and MWiB seek to know Christ and to make him known in our respective communities and in the world.
