The party is over
So it seems
But in truth
It has only just begun!
Like children who leave a party
With gifts
We too leave clutching
Free gifts.
And So….
What did you receive in your party bag
On Easter Day?
Chocolate?
Delight?
Hope?
Tears of joy?
Excitement?
Flowers?
Promise?
Forgiveness?
When you opened your Party Bag
In the privacy of Prayer
What did you most rejoice to discover?
What was hiding in the bottom corner of the bag
That you almost overlooked?
As you travel these days between
Easter and Pentecost
Review the cost of the contents
Of this unique Party Bag.
It is a cost
Christ paid
Willingly
Lovingly
Bearing it and shedding
Mercy and unending Love
As the contents spilled out.
Open the Party Bag and share its contents
It is not for keeping
But for spilling into the world
Evidence
Of the Grace and the Generosity
Of the God who loves.
