For the last two years I have had a seat at Methodist Conference as President of Methodist Women in Britain. This year I shall be there with my own District and Sandra will take the MWiB seat. Time for transition!
This evening Carolyn and I joined our Plymouth and Exeter District ‘team’ who will be together in Birmingham at the end of this week and through most of next. We ate, catching up with each other over supper and then worked our way through the whole agenda. It was good to prepare together.
Today, yet again, we are mindful of those who mourn because of the events at Finsbury Park. Again, Roger and Rachel, our President and Vice President, have helped us to find words if words are what we need. We pray again for those who minister in any way in the area, as they reach out with compassion and support.
From the President of the Methodist Conference, the Revd Dr Roger Walton, and Vice-President Rachel Lampard:
“We are appalled by reports of a fatal attack on worshippers at the Finsbury Park Mosque. This is particularly offensive in that it happened during the holy month of Ramadan.
“We pray for all those who are affected.
“Yesterday thousands of people – Muslims, Christians and others – joined together for the Great Get Together and the Big Iftar. It is this vision of togetherness that we should hold onto in these difficult times.”
