October 3rd 2017 – ‘Smile please!”

Today’s photo was taken at the end of our Autumn MWiB Forum meeting. Thirty seven ladies had travelled from every corner of the Methodist Connexion on Friday or Saturday to the Hayes Conference Centre in Swanwick.

At the Spring Forum in February we had said our thanks and farewells to those who were to finish their terms of office in August, so this time we had the opportunity to welcome their successors.

The Forum is the Trustee body of MWiB and as such is required to  ensure that our financial accounts are in order and it has the privilege to approve allocation of the many grants that we give both in the UK and overseas.

Forum members also serve on a variety of task-groups which meet throughout the year. These smaller groups work together on tasks such as planning our Connexional events, campaigning and awareness raising on issues of injustice and social need, and to raise awareness of issues that affect many family members both at home and in our church communities such as dementia, visual and hearing impairment.

In addition to the official business of Forum we have the opportunity to worship and share in fellowship together. We make the opportunity to share our experiences from within each District. Some representatives have a seat on Synod are supported by their clergy whilst others struggle to find acceptance.

Listening to one another and learning from one another gives hope, encouragement and a renewed sense of purpose as we work together as partners in God’s mission.

Every blessing, Sandra
