Tuesday 4th September 2018 – ‘New Season’

Tuesday 4th September 2018 – ‘New Season’
September 4, 2018 Sandra Goodwin

I’m sitting at the desk this morning gathering together the final papers for our first MWiB Executive meeting of the new church calendar year and pondering a little over the August break which seemed to pass so quickly.

It has been a time to relax, to catch up with family and to catch up with those neglected tasks in the garden. The apples I spoke about in a previous blog have now virtually all dropped off the tree, the codling moths and sawflies have definitely had the upper hand this season. All is not lost however, we now have several tubs of ‘apple compote’ in the freezer which will go very nicely with the damsons and blackberries that David and I foraged from Barton Hills.

Pictured above is one of those special ‘family moments’. Gathered together at Snugbury’s ice-cream farm in Cheshire are my two daughters Becky and Ruth, granddaughters Emily and Lily, son-in law Mark, his sister Lisa and brother in law Robin. Just as the photo was taken Becky’s ice-cream began to take on a life of its own causing great amusement all round!

Well, it’s time to get back to those papers. I’m looking forward to the new season, to planning ahead and travelling to share fellowship in many different Districts.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to Deacon Denise Creed who has been faithfully writing our ‘Prayer for the Week’ over the last twelve months. If you have missed any they are all still accessible and downloadable from this website. Thank you Denise for all the time, thought and prayers with which you have blessed over the past year.

We welcome our new writer Revd Claire Rawlinson whom many of you may know as a member of the Chaplaincy team at the annual Swanwick Weekend. Thank you Claire, for taking on this task. Claire’s first posting ‘Every day a new journey’ is available to read and download.

Using words from Claire’s prayer :-

As we journey on to whatever this year brings, may we go knowing that you walk beside us every step of the way. Amen

 Blessings Sandra
