A Prayer based on the bible verse which was ultimately my call to preach. Psalm 46 v 10
‘Be still, and know that I am God’
Father, you speak and say ‘Be Still’…and I feel it is a reprimand as I am rarely still.
So busy; much to do; people to see; places to go.
And much of my busyness is ‘church’ and so I tell myself it’s all OK- because it’s all for You.
But there are times when my life is so crowded and frantic that my focus is pulled too many ways.
And so….sometimes – often- I long just to sit
Alone
And pray
And read
And think
And learn
And know….
Know You better; know that You are my God, my Father…and to be truly still – quiet, resting in Your presence, peaceful and fixed on You
And so I ask for forgiveness for my failures and for the times when my priorities have not been correct;
Teach me humility and true obedience;
Help me to relieve and let go of the stresses in my life which keep me from You
Lead me to that stillness and peace that I crave;
Let me know that you are God – my God.
Each morning and evening, may I rest in Your presence and Your abiding love.
Amen
