Week 3: Radiant Faith

Scripture: Isaiah 60:3–5
Focus: The joy of being a beacon.
The Bible Study
When we obey the call to arise, we don’t just stand still; we become radiant. Verse 5 promises that your heart shall “thrill and rejoice.” This spiritual radiance acts as a beacon, naturally attracting others who are searching for the light of God.
The Prayer Narration
In Isaiah 60:5, the prophet uses language that describes a physical reaction to God’s goodness: “you will be filled with Joy, you will tremble with excitement.” Pause for a moment and reflect: When was the last time your faith made you feel so moved that you felt that “tremble”? We are all human, and we all carry heavy burdens—the quiet worries for our families, the weight of health concerns, and the heavy loads of responsibility. These things can dim our spirits. But the scripture promises a joy that is more powerful than our burdens. When something truly excites us, we are filled with a delight that we can hardly contain; it creates an impulse within us to shout from the rooftops and share the news with everyone we meet.
This exuberant feeling brings to mind the beloved hymn:
“You shall go out with Joy, and be led forth with peace, the mountains and the hills will break forth before you, There’ll be shouts of joy and the trees of the field will clap, will clap their hands.”
There is a reason this hymn is a favourite within our movement. The marriage of its upbeat tune with lyrics of nature itself celebrating God’s glory makes it impossible not to feel a lift in our spirits. It reminds us that our joy isn’t just a personal feeling; it is part of a cosmic celebration.
This outward expression is what we call “Radiant Faith.” It is a spiritual glow that people can see in the lines of your face, the brightness of your eyes, and the warmth of your expression. It is a “magnetic” faith. If we all walked through our daily lives—the supermarket, the post office, the bus stop—carrying this visible joy, people would naturally be drawn to us. They would want to know the source of our radiance.
We often don’t realize the impact we have. You might think you are just having a casual conversation, but when you speak from a place of Radiant Faith, you are acting as God’s mouthpiece. The words He puts in your mouth may be exactly what a stranger needs to hear to find their own way out of the dark. As His disciples on earth today, our work isn’t just in the pews; it is in every encounter. So, as we prepare for our journey to purpose, let us keep talking and keep smiling—letting the world see the light of Christ through your Radiant Faith.
