Prayer for the Week 11 April
Read Isaiah 60:1-2
Over this weekend 200+ Methodist women and friends will have the privilege of coming together for our annual MWiB conference at Swanwick with others joining daily via Zoom. Our theme for the weekend and for the coming year is ‘Arise and Shine’.
Opposite you can see a copy of the WFMUCW’s logo for the 15th World Assembly to be held in Auckland, New Zealand from 25-29 August 2026.
“Arise and Shine for the Glory of God is Upon You” taken from Isaiah 60:1 The theme for this year’s World Assembly.
Not all of us will be able to attend Swanwick in person or virtually and only a select few will travel from Britain & Ireland (our European unit) to attend this year’s WFMUCW World Assembly but we all can hold the delegates and those leading & planning the two events in our prayers, and especially those who will be taking up new roles and appointments in August.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, in the quiet of this moment, we are reminded of Your glorious call for us to arise and shine. You have created us to reflect Your light and love in a world that often walks in darkness. As we come before You, we are humbled and excited by the mission You have entrusted to us. Stir in our hearts a burning desire to shine brightly, not for our own vanity but so that we may shine for you and draw others to your son, Jesus.
We thank you for those women who have inspired, taught, led and nurtured us in our faith journey, especially within our movement. We ask your blessing on those who continue to instruct and lead us. We pray for all those women of faith who take up your call to serve in whatever capacity, from the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally, to those who support quietly, unseen in the background, the backbone of families and churches across our world.
You command us to Arise as well as to Shine, to take up your challenges to work for your Kingdom. Let our thoughts be guided by Your truth and our steps directed by Your wisdom. May we walk in Your presence, trusting that You will lead us, strengthen us, equip us and help us to Arise and Shine as a Light for Your glory. Amen.
