I have had two communications with Alison Judd today. Alison is the Area Officer on the Executive of MWiB, whose role is to strengthen the international links for Methodist women in Britain, to liaise with the World Church Relationships team and the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women, particularly Methodist Women in Ireland and to represent MWiB at overseas events and meetings. She has just returned from a trip to Ireland, where she attended the installation service for Linda McGuffin as President of Methodist Women in Ireland in Enniskillen Methodist Church on 12 September. Alison is pictured here with Louise Wilson (right) and Rachel Fallows (centre). Louise will be the next World Federation Area President and Rachel is their Helen Kim Memorial Scholar.
Shortly after Alison had sent this report and photo she forwarded a message from Ivonne Pereira, World Federation Area President for Latin America, asking for our prayers following the earthquake of 8.3 in Chile and the alert of a tsunami. Up to date news of this is available on the BBC website.
I set off tomorrow morning for a weekend at Lee Abbey in North Devon. After a rather busy couple of weeks I am looking forward to more being than doing, and am going to take a short break from blogging, too. My daughters have challenged me to a technology-free day, which I may try to achieve in part over this weekend, although I know I shall still want to take photos. Normal blogging service will be resumed on Monday 21 September!
Perhaps some of you may like to join me in a (partially) technology-free day sometime over the weekend?
