I am grateful to Linda for writing the blog last night and will try to write something from the great wealth of experiences and emotions which today has brought.
I have been overwhelmed by the love and kindness of so many people today here at Methodist Conference in Southport. My commissioning service on Friday was a joyful occasion and I am so grateful to those who attended and contributed in any way.
I found the commissioning today of Steve Wild as President of Conference and Jill Barber as Vice President to be extremely moving, coming so soon after my own promise to serve God and the Church through MWiB. It was also an absolute pleasure to see my new friends from the World Church being welcomed by Conference. This morning I met with them for a while and took this photo, as Steve Pearce of the World Church Relationships team briefed them on Conference procedure.
This afternoon it was a privilege to share in worship with so many fellow Christians, to be challenged by clear preaching, to be reminded again of the call to share our faith. I pray that God will bless Steve and Jill in their ministry in the coming year and look forward to worshipping together with them again tomorrow.
The day Thou gavest, Lord, is ended,
The darkness falls at Thy behest;
To Thee our morning hymns ascended,
Thy praise shall sanctify our rest.
I trust that most of you are indeed already resting and that you will not read this before the morning! With love and a very thankful heart, Anne x
