It has been very special to be back home and to have two breakfasts this morning! The first was with family, the second with church and community at our village brunch. Every two months our church hires the village hall and provides free bacon rolls, Sunday papers, toys and craft activities. This initiative started with Hope 08 and is a wonderful way of bringing the community together and spending relaxed time with each other. It may feel less relaxed, of course, if you are cooking the bacon or washing up! Our church sees this, however, as our ‘service’, and it is a shared team effort, with lots of people helping in lots of different ways.
This evening a smaller group of us met to worship and, dare I say, to share story! Margaret chose hymns and significant Bible readings, led prayer and told us why her Methodist heritage and Christian faith are so important to her. She and John are pictured here with some of the ‘artefacts’ which illustrated her story. They are two of the friends who are so supportive to me and who encourage me, pray for me, keep me grounded and warn me to ‘look after myself’! I thank God for them!
