Today I had an entry in my diary to have coffee with a friend. Each month we try out different local cafés, talk for England, put the world to rights and then set a date to meet again. Last night we decided for various reasons to postpone meeting up today, and shortly after that decision something else cropped up that I needed to do this morning instead!
We think we know what our day or our week will hold, but we can never be quite sure. Fortunately, most of the time, we are able to stick to our plans. Sometimes, however, things change and the day takes a different direction. I am mindful as I write that sometimes life changes in a way that is far more devastating than postponing, or even cancelling, a date for coffee with a friend.
Please join me in praying for people whose lives have currently been turned upside down and inside out by illness or bereavement or other situations which have left them feeling that they are in a place where there seems to be little or no hope.
“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.”
Famous words of comfort from Psalm 23 in the New Living Translation.
