The house is quieter now that both daughters have returned to their own homes. Today has been a gentle celebration of friendship. At lunchtime we responded to an open invitation from Paul and Carol, our minister and his wife, to New Year’s Eve lunch at the Manse. We are grateful to them for the way in which they, and Jessica and Samuel, welcome us into their home. Genuine, comfortable hospitality. All ages ate and drank and chatted and played companionably together and we combined the wisdom of the generations to tackle a cryptic quiz which had been devised for us. By the end of the afternoon we were designating it a guessing game, rather than a quiz!
After lunch, Ken and I drove back and detoured through the local country lanes. At about 4 o’clock we stopped the car so that I could photograph this, the last late afternoon sky of 2015. We are now settled in front of the wood burner and will decide as the evening goes on whether we have either the will or the stamina to see in 2016! Whatever you are doing tonight, I pray that you will be aware that Emmanuel, the Christ of Christmas, goes with us into the New Year.
Blessings, Anne x
