March 22nd 2018 – ‘In like a lion, out like a lamb!’

March 22nd 2018 – ‘In like a lion, out like a lamb!’
March 22, 2018 Sandra Goodwin

This has been an interesting week. Sunday dawned and David and I walked down to our home church in Harlington through the snow. Worship including Holy Communion led by our minister Rev Nina Johnson was followed by our AGM and faith lunch. Trundling back through the snow, part way through the meeting, to feed and exercise Toby I wondered how the weather would affect those hoping to travel to our District MWiB day on Monday. One or two ladies had already contacted us with regard to the snow in Essex. However, regardless of the weather, all hands were on deck to prepare the church and coffee lounge for our visitors.

Monday dawned dry and bright, most of the ‘white-stuff’ had melted away and we had a wonderful day, not only with regard to the weather but with the warmth of fellowship and sharing. After the afternoon session pictured above, we had the opportunity to join the ladies attending the regular ‘Crafternoon Tea’.

Sincere thanks to all who worked together, brewing tea, baking cakes, turning the church round from landscape to portrait and all the other details which went into making it such a good day. We’re hoping to take the same event across to the central/eastern side of the District later in the year – sadly this be minus the Crafternoon Tea!

Home again, it was time to make final preparations for the MWiB Executive meeting on Wednesday. We had a very busy but positive day, reviewing and planning ahead for this year’s events, which of course included the process for selection of our next Vice-President/President. This will be advertised after Easter, so do look out for it.

It definitely feels a little more like spring today. I hung the washing outside to dry for the first time this year and noticed the new growth of fresh mint and rhubarb in the garden. The old saying about the month of March, ‘In like a lion, out like a lamb’ has certainly proved to be true this year.

However, beware – I can still hear my Grandmother’s voice saying “Cast not a clout ‘till May is out”!

“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” Genesis 8:22
