Cumbria MWiB Residential Report

Cumbria MWiB Residential Report
November 26, 2024 Bronwen
Cumbria MWiB’s  “Holy Sauntering”  at Grange -o-Sands !

Deacon Karen McBride, Warden of the Methodist Diaconal Order led our “Together at Thornleigh” this year, from 11-13th November. .

“Holy Sauntering” was her theme, where she shared with us how to contemplate God in many ways, using art, music, poetry, writings, songs, crafts and of course Scripture. As last year, we had over 37 delegates present, including friends from Darlington & Newcastle and first timers too.
Rev John Morton entertained us with amazing humour on Monday night, and after a fun quiz on the Tuesday evening, Debs Coggrave, MWiB Trustee gave us a super illustrated  “Taste of Porto” – having attended the European Methodist Women’s Conference held in Portugal this year.
We were blessed with brilliant weather and the sunrise was beautiful, especially for those walking on the promenade early! The fellowship as usual was wonderful, along with the super meals, comfort and special atmosphere of Thornleigh.
Each morning and evening we shared in prayers together, prepared & led beautifully by members, and our final service with Communion was again led by Rev Jo Rand of Grange MC. This was her 9th and sadly final time with us, as she is moving on to Cliff College. We wish Jo well.
Next year, Nov 10-12th, Hilary Evans, past President of MWiB will be our lead, but for now, :-

We Praise the Lord, giving thanks for a very blessed time together and Karen’s gifts to us on “Holy Sauntering”.
