Birds
Genesis Chapter 1 v 20-22
And God said “Let the water teem with living creatures and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky”. So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas and let the birds increase on the earth”.
I have an app on my phone that picks up bird song. I spend a fair amount of time listening to the different birds around where I live and when I go further afield. Watching the Red Kite hovering over fields and trees is simply majestic. The distinctive sound of the Cuckoo is heart warming and I’ve recently heard them in three different places several miles apart. The decline in some common species is a concern, partly due to the lack of respect we often have for the world around us and how we live our lives without much care for God’s creatures. I find the time I spend very relaxing and more importantly close to God, who created them as mentioned in Genesis.
Let us Pray: Thank you Lord, for the chance to keep the abundance of your love and care in our daily lives. May justice for all be a big part of our desire impartiality, fairness proper and reasonable in the laws. We ask that you will guide us in our actions that as Methodist Women in Britain we will continue to be for women, for justice, for Christ. We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus, the source of all our blessings. Amen
