The World Federation’s long-standing commitment to the welfare of girl children and young women has found new expression with the introduction of the Helen Kim Memorial Scholarship which offers Leadership Development Training for Young Women.
Every five years, two young women (18–30 years old) from each of the World Federation Areas are given the opportunity to attend the World Federation World Assembly, and to take part in a Leadership Development Training Program where they will learn leadership skills and participate in building relationships and community with other young women, the Executive Committee, and the World Federation’s United Nations representatives.

This Program is named in honour of Helen Kim, a young Korean woman who envisioned a world sisterhood of women working together ‘to promote peace and better conditions in the whole world’. The Scholarship programme aims to inspire young women to imagine and work towards a world where there is hope for the hopeless, security for the insecure, sufficient for the impoverished, freedom for the oppressed, and a voice for the voiceless.
