This week began with Pentecost and ended with Trinity Sunday. On Pentecost Sunday David and I travelled to Methodist Central Hall Westminster to join with the Methodist Ghanaian Women’s Fellowship which included representatives from across Europe and Ghana as they celebrated their 15thanniversary. It was a truly joyous occasion as we praised God in prayer, music and dance.
In the evening we remained at Central Hall to participate in the service of worship and re-dedication of the Wesley Chapel following its refurbishment and installation of new state of the art sound and visual equipment. The chapel is not only used regularly for worship on a Sunday but by other organisations and charities on weekdays. The occasion was the culmination of years of planning and hard work.
On Wednesday we spent the day at Woburn Abbey the family home of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford. The occasion was a Christmas gift from my son and daughter in law Andrew and Sarah. We had waited for the spring/summer for a warm sunny day, to use the gift which included entrance to the Abbey and gardens and afternoon tea. Needless to say the weather forecast was terrible, however all came together as we enjoyed a dry walk in the gardens and then it poured down with rain while we inside enjoying our tea and visiting the house.
This morning we have just returned from a wonderful Trinity Sunday service and communion led by one of our local ministers Rev Arlington Trottman. During the worship we sang a beautiful hymn of faith and trust, a hymn which has always touched me deeply. The author, Horatio Stafford, had lost all his belongings, livelihood and young son in a fire, and a year or so later lost his remaining daughters at sea.
When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea-billows roll;
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to know
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
But Lord, it’s for you, for your coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
O trump of the angel! O voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul.
It is well, (it is well),
With my soul, (with my soul)
It is well, it is well, with my soul. Mission Praise 757
Every blessing, Sandra
