I write the blog tonight after watching the Festival of Remembrance from the Royal Albert Hall. Most poignant for me were the stories. Stories of three women widowed and children left without fathers. Stories of a young woman nursing Ebola patients and contracting the disease herself. Stories of support for dementia sufferers via the Royal British Legion.
Many of us will go on remembering tomorrow, in our church and community services. Here in our Devon village of Halberton we will begin at 10.50 in our village church of St Andrew, observing silence and praying for peace. We will then walk up to our memorial hall, where the names of those who died in both World Wars are recorded on the boards there.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.
