Last weekend David and I were invited along to a ‘Community Celebration of Christmas’ in the village of Eaton Bray in Bedfordshire. For the third consecutive year, the local Salvation Army led by Hilary Chadwick pictured with David above, have celebrated the beginning of Advent and the Christmas season in readings, song and drama accompanied by Eaton Bray’s community band.
Proud parents and grandparents watched as children from the village school choir sang to us and the Sunday School children performed ‘The Curious Sheep’ – the nativity story told from the perspective of a sheep!
David had been invited to talk about his work with the Keech Childrens’ Hospice. With the help of a video he showed some of the differences that hospice care can make to the lives of parents and siblings of children with life-limiting conditions.
Following a drum-roll played by their excellent 12 year old ‘drummer boy’, Hilary presented David with an offering of £514 .42 which had been donated on the evening.
Thank you Hilary and all those who contributed to a really special celebration!
Blessings Sandra
